Coleophora albella

(Thunberg, 1788)


Wingspan 16-18 mm.

This species is light grey with a broad white costal streak almost the full length of the forewing. The antennae are ringed.

The larvae build a case on the seeds of Silene (ssp.) mostly on Silene flos-cuculi in which they also overwinter. Pupation takes place in May.

The adults are on the wing from the end of May till well into July.
