Clepsis consimilana

(Hübner, [1817])

Wingspan 13-19 mm.

One of the plainer-looking of the Tortricidae, the female being even more indistinctly marked than the male. Two small darker spots on the hind edge of the reddish-brown forewing help to distinguish this species.

The larvae feed on trees such as privet (Ligustrum), apparently preferring dead leaves.

The adult moth is on the wing from June to September, and comes to light.
