Chrysocrambus craterella

(Scopoli, 1763)

Wingspan c. 20mm.

This species, though fairly common in southern Europe, has only been recorded in the British Isles on a couple of occasions, in the late 19th century.

It is very similar to C. linetella, and ideally, genitalia dissection is required to reliably separate the two species. However, craterella does appear to show some consistent features, such as the two brown lines near the apex being suffused with brownish and merging together.
