Celypha striana
([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
Wingspan 16-22 mm.
A fairly common species in the south of Britain, becoming scarcer further north.
It inhabits open grassy areas and flies from dusk between June and August, being attracted to light.
The larvae feed on dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), boring into the roots.
