Haworth's Minor Celaena haworthii

(Curtis, 1829)


Wingspan 25-32 mm.

Mainly a moorland species, occurring most commonly in northern England, Wales and Scotland, but is also found on southern heaths and the East Anglian fens.

The flight period is August and September, when the males will fly on sunny days, but generally nocturnal, and attracted to light.

Cotton-grass (Eriphorium spp.) is the main foodplant, the larvae feeding internally on the stems.
