Rosy Underwing Catocala electa
Wingspan 65-80 mm.
A rare autumn visitor to the British Isles, with a small number of records, mostly along the south coast, usually in September.
Since 2002 it has occurred in the Channel Islands with some regularity and may be becoming established there.
Abroad, the species occurs in central and southern Europe and occupies mixed forest. The normal flight period is from July to September. The larvae have not occurred in Britain, but elsewhere feed on sallow (Salix) and poplar (Populus).
