Marbled Grey Bryophila raptricula - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Marbled Grey Bryophila raptricula

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 29-36 mm.

The larvae of this moth feed from autumn to spring on lichens, especially Sticta pulmomacea, on rocks, old stone walls and tree trunks, although have not been found in Britain in this stage.

The adults fly in a single generation in July and August and have occasionally been trapped at light in south-east England. The moth appears to be extending its range in western Europe.
