Batrachedra pinicolella

(Zeller, 1839)


Wingspan 12 mm.

A narrow-winged species which occurs locally across the southern half of England.

The species inhabits woodland, where the larvae feed on the needles of Norway spruce (Picea abies) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), mining when young and after hibernation in a small silken web.

The adults fly at night during July.
