Argyresthia semifusca

(Haworth, 1828)


Wingspan c.12 mm.

Distributed across most of the British Isles, the adults of this species often show a slight purplish tinge to the brown colour of the forewing.

The larvae feed either on hawthorn (Crataegus) or rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), in a young shoot during early summer.

Adult moths fly from June into late August/early September.
