Argyresthia arceuthina: Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Argyresthia arceuthina

Zeller, 1839

Wingspan 8-9 mm.

Although quite plain in appearance, the distinct whitish head and thorax, contrasting with the shining golden colour of the forewing make this species fairly distinctive.

It is one of the earliest of the group to be on the wing, flying between April and June, sometimes during the day, though it is attracted to light at night.

The larvae feed on juniper (Juniperus), mining in the shoots causing them to wither and die.
