Archinemapogon yildizae - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Archinemapogon yildizae

Koçak, 1981

Wingspan c.14-21 mm.

A rare species, with a British distribution only in the central Scottish Highlands, although occurring elsewhere in Europe and further east.

The larvae feed on bracket fungus, either Fomes or Piptorus which grows on birch (Betula).

Adults, though at large from May to July are generally only encountered as a result of rearing from larvae.
