Apotomis turbidana is a relatively common species throughout the British Isles, occupying woodland and heathland.
The flight period for the adults is June and July. It can be encountered resting on tree trunks during the day, but more often is taken at light.
The larva feeds on birch (Betula), feeding in spun leaves.
