Apotomis capreana - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Apotomis capreana

(Hübner, [1817])

Wingspan 17-22 mm.

Rather resembling A. betuletana, this species can usually be distinguished by the hook-like projection of the white area into the black of the forewing.

The larvae feed in spun leaves of goat willow (Salix caprea) during the spring, producing moths between June and August.

Relatively uncommon, it occurs mainly in the southern counties of England and Wales, with scattered records from elsewhere, including Scotland.
