Aphelia unitana
(Hübner, [1799])
Wingspan c. 19-24mm.
A scarce species, closely resembling A. paleana, which occurs on moorland and limestone hills and other calcareous districts throughout much of the British Isles.
The larvae feed on a number of low-growing plants, between spun leaves.
Adult moths are on the wing in June and July. The males tend not to show the same yellow flush around the head as paleana and the females have a straighter costa, but care should be taken when identifying this species.
