Ancylis diminutana
(Haworth, 1811)
Wingspan c. 12-18mm.
Formerly treated as a form of A. geminana, this has now been granted specific status.
The species is quite distinctive and is believed to be widespread but local throughout much of Britain.
The adults fly from May through to August and occupy damp habitats where the foodplant, sallow (Salix spp.) grows.
The larva spins a leaf of the foodplant, forming an enclosed pod or cone inside which it feeds.
