Anania stachydalis

Wingspan c. 24mm.

A rare species which is found in southern England and south Wales, flying from June to August, but quite skulking and only normally encountered at light.

The larva feeds on woundwort (Stachys spp. in a tube formed by rolling the edge of a leaf and securing with silk.

It quite closely resembles the much commoner Phlyctaenia coronata but has shorter, blunter wings and subtle differences in the pale markings.
