Mottled Beauty Alcis repandata
(Linnaeus, 1758)
Wingspan 30-45 mm.
A very variable species, occurring commonly throughout Britain, with a number of races and intermediate forms.
It is a regular visitor to light, and flies in June and July. Inhabiting woodland, suburban gardens and bushy localities, the larval foodplants are a number of different plants and trees.
