Agonopterix bipunctosa
(Curtis, 1850)
Wingspan c. 20mm.
Although quite local and until fairly recently, thought only to occur in Dorset and Hampshire, this species has now been found in a range of localities including Wales, East Anglia and Cornwall.
The adults, which resemble those of A. kaekeritziana, fly between July and September and are sometimes attracted to light.
Occurring in open situations such as heaths and downs, the larval foodplant is saw-wort Serratula tinctoria; the larvae feeding in spun shoots and rolled leaves during May and June.
