Large Tabby Aglossa pinguinalis
(Linnaeus, 1758)
Wingspan 29-38 mm.
An unusual species which inhabits buildings such as barns and warehouses, hiding in dark corners during the day. It occurs widely throughout the British Isles, but is less common than previously.
The larvae feed amongst straw and chaff in such buildings, as well as on sheep-dung.
The adults fly between June and August, and occasionally visit light.
