Acleris schalleriana

Wingspan c. 17mm
This species is found locally in the south of England, mainly on calcareous soils, and in South Wales and southern Ireland.
It is rather similar in appearance to Acleris comariana and Acleris laterana but tends to show a more elongated costal blotch (though this can be obscured in some individuals).
The larvae feed on wayfaring-tree (Viburnum lantana) and sometimes guelder rose (V. opulus), twisting a leaf to form a pocket and feeding within.
Adult moths are generally on the wing from August till October, whereupon they hibernate and reappear the following spring.
