Acleris permutana
(Duponchel, 1836)
Wingspan c. 15-20mm.
A scarce and local species, occurring in the southern parts of England and Wales, and preferring coastal sandhills and limestone habitats.
The moths fly in August and September and are quite elusive by day, but are attracted to light after dark.
The larval foodplants are burnet rose (Rosa pimpinellifolia) and blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), the caterpillars feeding in spun shoots and leaves.
