Cover This beautifully illustrated book depicts over 500 species of British moths that have been recorded by Chris Manley on the Dorset estate of Trigon, nestled between Poole Harbour and the Purbeck Hills.

Plate The book is primarily made up of colour plates, each containing a number of full colour photos, and is one of very few books in print illustrating so many species in this way.

Chris doesn't ignore the microlepidoptera, and these often beautiful tiny moths are also well represented. Towards the back of the book are several plates of species not yet recorded on the estate, but which have been recorded elsewhere in Dorset, and may eventually turn up there.

There are short narratives about various aspects of moths and 'mothing', and a checklist of the 705 species recorded on the Trigon estate, with brief details and first-sighting references.
