White Colon Sideridis turbida

(Esper, 1790)

Wingspan 38-44 mm.

A species of dry, sandy habitats, this moth is mostly found around the coast of the British Isles, although colonies do also occur inland in suitable habitat.

It is rather local and is on the wing in May and June, sometimes with a small second brood in August in the southern part of its range.

The caterpillars will eat a wide variety of plants occurring in the territory, and burrow into the sand in the daytime to hide.
