Scarce Hook-tip Sabra harpagula

(Esper, 1786)

Wingspan 25-35 mm.

Very local and confined to a small part of western England and south Wales, this species is more easily encountered elsewhere in Europe, but is not especially common.

In Britain there is only one generation, flying in June and July whereas on the continent there is often a second brood in August.

The larvae feed on small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata).
