Rhopobota stagnana - Distribution map

Please note that the NBN Gateway map service has been terminated as of 1 April 2017.

As soon as a replacement map service is available, distribution maps will hopefully appear here again.

In the meantime, you can get some idea of distribution from the NBN Atlas website.

Rhopobota stagnana

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan c. 12-15mm.

This species is rather similar to Rhopobota myrtillana although somewhat larger and less distinctly marked. Females are generally larger than males, which have narrower forewings.

There are two generations, with moths on the wing from April to June and again in August and September.

The larvae feed on small scabious (Scabiosa columbaria) or devil's-bit scabious (Succisa pratensis) and the moth is found in suitable habitats where the foodplants occur.
