Grass Emerald Pseudoterpna pruinata
(Walker, 1863)
Wingspan 30-35 mm.
Although bright bluish-green when freshly emerged, this species fades quickly and becomes rather greyish.
It occurs in open country such as heathland, moorland and commons, and is fairly common in these habitats from southern Scotland southwards.
The adults fly in June and July, and the larvae feed on petty whin (Genista anglica, gorse (Ulex) and broom (Cytisus scoparius).
