Paratalanta hyalinalis

(Hübner, 1796)

Wingspan c.32 mm.

A relatively uncommon species, occurring in the southern counties of England, and flying in June and July. It resembles a number of other species in the same family, and care should be taken with the identification.

The larvae feed on common or black knapweed (Centaurea nigra), and great mullein (Verbascum thapsus).

The adults can be disturbed from vegetation during the day, and will come to light after dark.
