Oegoconia deauratella

(Herrich-Schäffer, 1854)

Wingspan c. 13 mm.

Superficially very similar to O. quadripuncta, the adults of these two species can only be reliably separated by genitalia dissection.

Oegoconia deauratella is distributed mainly in the south-east of England, with a couple of records from Ireland, though it is probably awaiting discovery elsewhere.

The larvae, like those of O. quadripuncta, probably feed on dried and decaying vegetable matter, though this has yet to be clarified.
