Least Yellow Underwing Noctua interjecta

Wingspan 31-36 mm.

A relatively small Noctua, with a rich reddish-brown upperwing. It is widespread, but not common, mainly in the southern half of Britain.

The adults are on the wing in July and August, occurring in a wide range of habitats.

The larvae feed on grasses and other herbaceous plants, and overwinter.
