Nemapogon koenigi

[Synonyms: Nemapogon wolffiella]

Wingspan c. 12mm.

A local and rather scarce species occurring in the south of England northwards to Cumbria.

Although superficially similar to Cork Moth Nemapogon cloacella, the markings and overall appearance are generally much darker.

The moths fly in June and July from late afternoon onwards.

The larvae feed on fungus and dead and decaying wood.
