Marsh Carpet Gagitodes sagittata

(Fabricius, 1787)

Wingspan c.27-35 mm.

A highly distinctive and very attractive species, which is nationally scarce. It occurs in low frequencies in the fenland districts of Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire, and also in very small numbers in other wetland localities in East Anglia and Yorkshire.

The adult moths fly generally from late June to July, and the larvae feed from July to September on common meadow-rue (Thalictrium flavum) on the ripening seeds.
