Euplocamus anthracinalis

(Scopoli, 1763)

Wingspan 25-33 mm.

A large and conspicuous Tineid moth, which has a dubious claim to the British list. It was included in an early 19th century list, but has not been verified or seen here since.

Abroad, the species occurs central and eastern Europe, and flies in sunshine between May and August.

It inhabits damp woodland and the larvae feed on bracket fungi and decaying wood.
