Eucosmomorpha albersana

(Hübner, [1813])

Wingspan c. 14 mm.

Quite a distinctive species with a two-tone appearance, rich chocolate brown in the basal area and a clearly-defined ochreous-yellow distal region. There are also a number of metallic grey markings.

The species is distributed in the southern English counties but is not especially common.

Inhabiting woodland and clearings, the moths fly during May and June and can be found on the wing during the afternoon as well as after dark.

Honeysuckle (Lonicera) is the foodplant, the larva spinning two leaves together and feeding within.
