Epinotia granitana

(Herrich-Schäffer, 1851)

Wingspan c. 10mm.

There is just a single record of this species in Britain, from Suffolk in 2007, possibly accidentally introduced.

Abroad, the species occurs in northern and eastern Europe, and flies from May to June, possibly until August in some places.

The larvae feed on Norway Spruce (Picea abies), mining the needles and then overwintering before pupating.
