Crambus uliginosellus

Zeller, 1850

Wingspan 18-23 mm.

A very local species, occupying boggy ground in parts of England and Wales. The adults are at large in June and July and can be flushed easily during the day, though their normal flight time is from dusk onwards.

The early life stages are not yet fully understood, though it has been reared from larvae in silken tubes amongst Sphagnum capillifolium and which ate the leaves of Carex panicea and also from larvae spun low down to the stems of Eriophorum angustifolium amongst a Sphagnum sp. (R. J. Heckford)
