Coleophora galbulipennella

Zeller, 1838

[Synonyms: otitae]
Wingspan c.16mm.

In Britain, this species occurs only on the shingle beaches close to Dungeness in Kent, where it was discovered in 1940.

The larval foodplant is Nottingham catchfly (Silene nutans), the larva creating a tubular case, feeding on the seeds in the autumn and overwintering, after which they feed on the leaves.

Adult moths are on the wing in July and August.
