Slender-striped Rufous Coenocalpe lapidata

(Hübner, [1809])

Wingspan 28-34 mm.

A scarce and local species, occurring in scattered localities throughout north and west Scotland. Its preferred habitat is damp heathland and open moorland.

The adults fly in September, sometimes in the afternoon but more generally after dark.

The foodplants are not definitively described in the wild, but it is believed to feed on meadow buttercup (Ranunculus acris) and accepts traveller's-joy (Clematis vitalba) in captivity.
