Treble Lines Charanyca trigrammica

Wingspan 35-40 mm.
A species of woodland fringes, hedgerows and commons, this moth flies from May to July and is readily attracted to sugar and light.
It is commonly distributed in England and Wales, and parts of Ireland.
The nocturnal larvae feed on a number of herbaceous plants including greater plantain (Plantago major). They generally live just below the surface of the ground and chew through the stems at ground level.
