Catoptria furcatellus

(Zetterstedt, 1839)

Wingspan c. 20mm.

This very local montane species is only found at elevations of 400m to over 1000m in parts of North Wales, the Lake District and the Scottish Highlands and Islands.

The adults can be seen by day from June to August and are rather distinctive with a broad, longitudinal white streak on the forewing.

The early stages are poorly described, but it is believed to be associated with clubmosses (Lycopodium).
