Bryotropha senectella

(Zeller, 1839)

One of several rather similar Bryotropha species, most of which, including this one, feed on mosses.

It is widely distributed over much of the British Isles, and frequents a range of habitats where the foodplants occur.

The adults are on the wing in July and August, and fly mainly at night.
