Batrachedra praeangusta

(Haworth, 1828)

Wingspan 14-15 mm.

This small, inconspicuous species is locally common in England and Ireland.

It can be found in a wide range of habitats, where the larvae feed on the catkins and leaves of poplar (Populus) and sallow (Salix).

The nocturnal adults, which have elongated narrow forewings, fly during July and August, and come to light.
