Anacampsis populella

(Clerck, 1759)

Wingspan 14-19 mm.

Distributed throughout much of Britain except in southern Scotland, and occurring in parts of Ireland, this species is difficult to tell from A. blattariella, which has a different foodplant.

It flies in July and August and can sometimes be found at rest on leaves and trunks of the foodplants.

The larva feeds on sallow (Salix) and poplar (Populus), in a leaf rolled in the manner of a Tortrix.
