Agrotera nemoralis

(Scopoli, 1763)

Wingspan 20-24 mm.

This attractive rare Crambid is perhaps restricted to one hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) wood in Kent. Other finds in southern coastal counties probably represent immigrants.

The adults are on the wing from May to July and come to light.

The larvae feed on hornbeam, birch, hazel and chestnut leaves.
