421 Argyresthia bonnetella

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan 9-11 mm.

Very similar to the Cherry Fruit Moth (Argyresthia pruniella) in appearance, this species can be distinguished with care by the angle of the markings on the forewing.

It is a hawthorn (Crataegus) feeder, and is common throughout most of mainland Britain.

Flying between June and August, it can be attracted to light, but is often best looked for around hawthorn hedges and bushes.
