452 Ypsolopha nemorella

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan 21-24 mm.

One of the larger species of the genus Ypsolopha, a distinct dark spot on the creamy forewing is the most obvious feature.

Distributed locally across most of Britain, except some parts of Scotland, it inhabits mainly woodland habitat, and flies during July and August.

The larvae feed on honeysuckle (Lonicera).
