Cream-spot Tiger Arctia villica

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan 45-60 mm.

Inhabiting woodland and a range of open grassy areas, this species has a distribution covering much of the southern half of England and Wales.

It flies in May and June, and regularly comes to light.

The larvae, like those of other Tiger moths, are brown and covered with hairs, and feed on a range of herbaceous plants.
