1958 Clouded Silver Lomographa temerata

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 22-26 mm.

An attractive and fairly common species over most of Britain, though it is more local in Scotland.

The single brood flies in May and June, with some adults on the wing in autumn, usually in the south, considered to be migrants.

It frequents woodland, suburban habitats and other bushy areas, and the caterpillars feed on hawthorn (Crataegus) and blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), amongst other trees.
