1760 Red-green Carpet Chloroclysta siterata

(Hufnagel, 1767)

Wingspan 30-36 mm.

An autumn species, occurring in September and October, hibernating as an adult and flying again in early spring.

The adult has a subtle combination of reddish and green colours which seem to change in the light.

Occupying mainly woodland habitats, the larval foodplants are various deciduous trees, especially oak (Quercus) and rowan (Sorbus aucuparia).

It is locally distributed over much of Britain.
