Wingspan 11-13 mm.A tiny but very attractive species which occurs widely in Continental Europe but has only a very few records from the south-east of England. It was first noted in 1976 at Hamstreet in Kent and has since been found elsewhere nearby, so it's possible the species has colonised in small numbers.
The moths fliy between June and August, and are attracted to light.
The larva has not yet been found in this country, but abroad it is known to feed on lichens on tree-trunks.
