wingspan - 13-18 mm.

On the wing from late June through to early September, this moth is found particularly in the coastal counties and inland in southern England, where it can be locally common. It is scarcer further
north.

It is found in rough grassland, particularly chalk downland and on the coast.

The larval foodplant is wild carrot (Daucus carota).
